About this site

Coliving Algarve is an independent editorial guide to coliving spaces and extended stays in the Algarve. It is not a booking platform, not a marketplace and not a directory — it is closer in spirit to asking somebody who already lives here.

Who writes it

One person: Thomas Sittig. Everything here is written from time actually spent in these towns and these houses, or it is not published. Where a page rests on somebody else's figures — an operator's own description, a train timetable — it says so and links to the source.

That is also the limit of the thing, and worth stating plainly. One person cannot have stayed everywhere. Pages built from desk research rather than a stay are marked as such, and the gaps in them are left visible rather than filled with something plausible.

What independence means here

  • No space can pay for coverage, for better coverage, or for earlier coverage. A space is covered because it exists.
  • Nothing is ranked. There are no stars, no scores and no best-of lists. The order of any listing is the coastline, then the alphabet.
  • No prices. What a stay costs is the operator's business and changes faster than any page. Rates, fees and living-cost figures are never printed here.
  • Both halves get written. Every space profile says who it does not suit. Every town page says what is shut in February. A place with no drawbacks is an advert.
  • Closed spaces stay up. When somewhere stops trading its page is marked closed and kept, because people bookmark and share these pages and a dead link helps nobody.

How it is paid for

Two places, both labelled wherever they appear: a booking link on a space profile, and a partner link on a dated field report. Town pages, guides and essays carry neither. The full version is on the partner transparency page, including what a commission does not buy.

Why every page carries a date

Timetables move, houses change hands, fibre arrives and seasons close things. So every page prints the month somebody last looked at it, and nothing here claims to be evergreen.

The date says when, not how thoroughly. You will not find the word "verified" on this site: a date can honestly tell you when a page was last worked on, and that is all it can tell you. Where a figure has not been measured — an internet speed taken from an operator's own description, say — the page says that too.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, stale, or unfair to a place, write to hello@colivingalgarve.com and it gets fixed — including when the correction is unflattering to somewhere this site links to.
